Tania Vitvitsky, President of Ukrainian Charitable Platform (https://ukrainecharitable.org/),
shares stories of her journey in 2022 and 2023 to Ukraine. The 2023 trip’s purpose was to
continue engaging with local nonprofits in Lviv and Kyiv that work with local partner
organizations throughout Ukraine to serve the neediest, including internally displaced women
and children (IDPs) as traumatized victims of Russia’s war. Ukraine is experiencing a massive
displacement of its citizenry due to the Russian invasion. According to the UN Refugee Agency
(UNHCR), there are approximately 5.1 million IDPs in Ukraine and 6.2 Ukrainian refugees
outside of Ukraine, or approximately 1/3 of the population. Tania also had an opportunity to
meet with scholarship students at Ukrainian Catholic University’s School of Public Management.
