sponsored by United Irish Societies, was held Saturday, February 26,
2011, at the Gaelic League, Detroit,
MI
48216. To be considered, young women must be
of Irish descent, between 17 and 24 years of age, and single, never been married, nor had children.

 Sunday, May 21, 2006 was the dedication
of the The United Irish Societies’ " Irish Plaza" in Corktown.
The day began with a 1 pm Mass at Most
Holy Trinity Church in Corktown. Immediately followed a formal dedication
of the Plaza and a reception thereafter at the Gaelic League.

in Corktown, the site has been consecrated and is known as UIS Irish Plaza.
Now completed, drive by to see the beautiful work at 6th Street and Michigan Ave. There is still time

Plaza committee

United Irish Societies sponsored the creation of the memorial to
the Irish in Detroit.
A "gathering place," under the leadership and vision of Ed
Neubacher (R.I.P.) and Mike McGunn, was constructed in Corktown
at 6th Street
and Michigan Avenue.
The site has been consecrated and is known as UIS Irish Plaza. It
has become a memorial for past and present members of the Irish
community, and the starting point for the St. Patrick's Parade for
present and future generations to come.
You
can become part of this memorial by purchasing a personalized paver in
this historical tribute to the Irish. Please see the order

permanent reminder to all,, that you, your family, organization, or
company acknowledges the contribution the Irish community has made to the
